It is a smaller scale ze hen expected, but my husband loves it.

I have traveled to most of our beautiful National Parks throughout the United States, and this book is the most comprehensive guide to the parks, and monuments and other significant places to go and see history as well as natural beauty. This book has divided the parks by geographic sections of the country, and has a good historical, and scientific background for each park or monument. I bought this book for a friend who is traveling to the parks during the summer months, and so it is an excellent guidebook with interesting facts, statistics and background of every park in the United States.

We are looking to travel and see points of interest especially our national parks. This list so many parks by each state. Many I never knew existed even when I lived there. I recommend this book.

I have a hardbound edition and liked it so much with its inclusion of the National Monuments and other NP properties that I also ordered the spiral version to fold flat to keep in the RV during trips. The spiral version does NOT look like it was published that way. It looks like someone cut off the spine, left raw edges on the hardbound cover where the cut was, and drilled holes through it all, too close to the edges. The spiral wire is HUGE, way oversized, and flimsy. I find it hard to believe that National Geographic did this. It is more like a second-hand chop job. But the contents are great. I just wish the spiral binding were more professional.

This is a gift of an outdoorsman, who enjoys visiting National Parks as often and as reachable as possible. This book should give him many hours of enjoyment planning his next trek.
